When the year is only a few days old, it feels like there’s a ton of hope around and an incredible amount of opportunity in the air. Life feels like a blank canvas again, ready for you to give it some colour. Everything is possible, all is new. Take advantage of that energy.
It’s time to chuck out the old notebook and buy yourself a brand-new one. What are your plans for 2018? What do you want to accomplish? Is there anything you want to learn? Don’t postpone it and sign up for that online course you keep coming back to. Go an join that gym class. There’s never a better time than right now. Use the clean slate.
Start a brand-new chapter
Ride that wave into new adventures in the New Year. You didn’t master the courage to sign up for pole dancing classes? You wanted to go on a solo trip but chickened out last minute? You planned to ask your hot colleague out for a drink but came up with a million excuses why it’s a bad idea?
Forget all of your doubts and fears that kept you from trying out new, exciting stuff. They are so 2017. You’re starting a new chapter this year and in your brand-new book you can be anything you like.
What have you learnt this past year?
Starting into the New Year also means that you can reflect upon all the lessons you’ve learned over the past 12 months. Give yourself some time to look back and see the progress, connect the dots of your footprints that lead you to this day so you can see your path clearer for the future. This will give you the energy to push your life into a positive direction.
Journaling is a good way to clarify what you want to get out of this year ahead. Write it all down. Make plans and then make them a reality. Bit by bit.
Right here — right now
There is nothing that keeps you from realising your dreams. You don’t need to wait for a perfect moment to start going after what you want. I can’t give you any advice that will propel you quicker towards your goals. There are, however, three things you can apply today that will have a positive effect on you and your life.
1. Make your health a priority. Wellbeing and peace of mind are so important to lead a happy, balanced life. Focus on quality and fill your life with goodness.
2. Try to give everything you do your undivided focus and presence. This goes for time spent with family and friends as well as work, hobbies and exercise. Even if you plan on relaxing and not doing anything, do that without listening to your highly distracting monkey mind.
3. Invest your time and energy in things and people that help you grow and be a better you instead of clinging to toxic relationships or work that frustrates you. And don’t forget: If life gets tough, ask for help. You’re not alone in this.
